Summer has always been my favourite season. I don't know whether it's because I was born in June, or the fact that the sunshine just seems to make everything feel better, but I'm always at my happiest during summertime.
Some of my favourite things about summer include the long days, light evenings, trips to the beach with the feel of the sun on your skin, being able to eat al fresco, impromptu road trips and, being a blogger, of course I can take advantage of the natural light for better blog photos!
To celebrate the most wonderful time of the year (in my opinion), I asked 21 other bloggers to tell me what their favourite things about this season were - and I loved reading everyone's responses. Here's what they said:
(Please note that I just copied and pasted these answers and resisted the urge to edit them as I wanted to let them come across in the bloggers' own writing voices, so any typos are not mine!)
----------
Kelle Salle: My favourite thing about summer is the endlessly warm weather, long walks in the park and being able to enjoy ice cream as much as I can!
Diana Allen: Summer brings a sense of feeling free! Probably because you're outside more often rather than indoors, but it makes you feel alive.
Melissa Guida-Richards: My favorite thing about summer is the warm nights where you can stare up at the stars and talk for hours outside without a care in the world.
Healthy Living: Pimms and picnics - I know I should probs be focusing on the feel good factor but I am so about the food and drink :)
The NChanting Whispers: My favorite thing about summers are the cold breezes at night and are affinity towards ice cubes, cold drinks everything cold...And the most best is that summer's end brings rain with heavy winds and stormy weather...
Chanel: I always feel like my skin flourishes in summer, although it's still important to wear SPF especially because I'm so pale, the Vitamin D is a godsend for clearing breakouts and giving you a healthy glow!
Atom Interior Styling: Working with Interiors I love summer because you gain another room, your garden! love how we can adapt an area in your garden to relax as you would in a lounge and creating an outdoor kitchen, so sociable no TV's just conversations :-)
Steff's Journey: The longer days, sunshine makes everything seem so much nicer, and hearing my children enjoying themselves playing outside oh and the bbqs and picnics xx
Paul McGinley: Mines is definitely being able to travel around all day because it's bright later in the day. I also used to go random drives with my girlfriend early in the morning if we were awake very early
Miss Mental: I bought a house near the water last year and I absolutely love sitting there in the summer, sun on my skin, birds chirping, the calming sound of the water. It's free, but those summer days make my life so much better
Tales from Home: Oh gosh, there are so many things I love about summer....beach trips are for sure near the top as well as gardening and having the kids home from school. Summer just feels like a season of fun and adventure. As a family we go out on adventures and spend more time together.
Imogen Molly: being able to eat smoothies and banana ice cream for breakfast without having to have sips of tea in between to counteract the cold!
Real Mom Blog: Picnics, bonfires, bbq, longer days, ice cream, spending time at the lake, swimming, no school, bathing suits, windows down, music up
Charlotte: I always want to spend more time outside and I feel more motivated to do more active and productive things in the sun. Also not being cold ALL of the time is pretty great. I love that everyone seems happier and more relaxed when it's warm and the sun is out
The Uhoh Diaries: I love only having to wear one item of clothing. Wake up, throw on summer dress and good to go. Now I’ve got a small person I guess I’ll have to wear undies now!
The Creators Tribe: Long walks on the beach at sunset, swimming in the sea, picnics, spending time in nature. The feeling of freedom I get each time I am out in the middle of nature.
Neve: By far my fave thing about summer is that the sun always helps clear my skin and by wearing hardly any makeup because its always too warm my skins always so bright and lovely!
Janita: My favourite thing about summer is being able to watch my little boy play outside. We will be taking him camping for the first time, and I’m excited to have him take swimming lessons because I never did!
The Timeless Voyagers: Smiles! Everyone seems happier. Being beach side, poolside, outside. Sundowners. SA summer fruits! Thunderstorms at the end of hot days. Christmas! (sthn hemisphere). Movie releases (HP &LOTR came out in our summer). My other half says "it's one season closer to winter again"
Nina Louise: My favourite thing has to be the longer days! The sun is up in the sky for so much longer and I feel like I can get so much more done every day!
And I had to include this last one, as the GIF is hilarious:
Lauren: Watermelon!!

DeleteI love summer. It is definitely my favourite time of year - the sitting outside, going for beach walks, swimming, holidays. Unfortunately my summer is opposite to yours, so mine is just coming to an end now. I always spend the next 4 months upset that everyone in the Northern Hemisphere is having a fab summer.
ReplyDeleteI'm the same. When our summer is finishing I'm always jealous that it's just starting for those in the southern hemisphere!
DeleteI'm also a June baby as well! Love how you engaged with bloggers to share awesome things about summer! I totally agree with a lot of these - getting to enjoy the outdoors and all of the good food! I'm totally on board with not having to wear so many layers of clothes!

DeleteI'll be honest - I have such a love/hate relationship with summer but being able to enjoy the outdoors more is something I love about that season. I thought it was pretty cool that you went and did a quick interview with some bloggers - great way to interact in this community!

I love being outside in the sun. There's not much I dislike about summer except maybe all the insects flying about! Love interacting with other bloggers so I might do something similar again soon.

Love the smell of a barbecue - it really signals 'summer' to me. The good lighting is crucial for blog photos! I find it so much harder in the winter.
DeleteSummer for me has always been about the long school holidays, playing football in the park, putting on some sunshades for a bit of swag, the blue, clear skies with mother nature at peace and enjoying some ice cream. So nostalgic!
