A few months ago I wrote a post entitled The 21 Best Things About Summer in which I asked 21 other bloggers to tell me their favourite things about the hottest season of the year (I actually published that post in April, so you can tell how excited I was for its arrival). Now it's officially autumn I've decided to do the same thing and ask people their favourite things about this season.
Yesterday I tweeted: "BLOGGERS! What are your favourite things about autumn/fall?" I received too many replies to include them all here (there are currently around 60 as I write this) so I decided to stick to a theme and choose 21 of the best answers. (If you want to read everyone's answers, you can see my tweet and all the replies here.)
Here's what people love about this time of year:
Charlotte: Butternut squash soup! And taking even just a short walk outside when it's crisp, dry and sunny puts me in such a happy, positive mood
Louise Nettleton: Our migratory geese return. Every night the sky is full of geese as they return from their feed.
Bexa: Going for an evening walk then getting home for a hot bath, hot choc, comfy clothes and getting all cosy in front of the TV with a duvet
The Dysfunctional Damsel: The colors of Fall are unbelievable. In North Carolina is a daily festival of deep reds, mustard yellows, and warm oranges. The backdrop is rich greens. The brittle air enhances the colors to give a magical feel. You wonder how fall beautifully exploded.
A Red Hair Girl: Fall is the best!!! The smell, the leaves, the crisp air, the holidays, birthdays, volleyball and football. What’s not to love?! This Thanksgiving everyone in my family will be together so it’s something super awesome that I’m looking forward to.
Josephine: Autumn is a beautiful season. I love autumn colours - especially the leaves. There's a tree in my garden that is currently dressed in reds, golds and yellows, it's gorgeous. We also get a break from all of the bugs and insects that come out in summer, which is a bonus!
Kim Cornell: My favourite thing is pumpkin carving with my dad - he always comes up with unique spooky or gruesome ideas.
Roots, Wings & Travel Things: My favorite thing about autumn is sitting out on our front porch in the morning drinking my coffee while wearing cozy pajamas and watching our kids run around and play! I just love being a bit chilled and needing a cozy hoodie or a blanket!
Chiara: Autumn is the season to bring loved ones together. It’s the best season to snuggle, do activities since it’s not hot out anymore and to light those fall scented candles that have been hiding in the back of cabinets all year long. It’s your time to shine guys! Ahaha get it?
Rambling Woman: Camping! It’s too hot to enjoy camping in the summer here in Texas. October and November are perfect to get outside for a hike during the day and a campfire at night.
Lucy Ruthnum: My fave thing of the moment is conkers! They're everywhere and I'm collecting them to keep in bowls around the house - such a simple but lovely way to decorate :)
Holly Homan: Having a lie in with the sun through the windows but the heating on, then getting wrapped up to go to the park and stomp in crunchy leaves, stopping by the pub on the way home for a roast dinner & big glass of red wine, then home again to blankets and slippers...
Sarah Jean: “Life starts over again when it gets crisp in the fall” I live by this quote in fall!! I use it as a time to reflect and try some new things or start over again. I feel free to change because the world around me is changing. I think there’s something beautiful in that.
Clare with the Hair: I love the shorter evenings, it means I stop earlier, lite the fire, pop on the telly & enjoy time with my girls. It’s warm, cosy & far less manic than summer time.
Ellen Louise Mills: I believe the fresh, crisp air autumn brings is so healthy for everyone, and it encourages people like myself to get outdoors and walk through gorgeous places, and to feel the crunch of the leaves and smell the earthiness is just wonderful
Alyssa's Muses: My gothiness increases during autumn, which is the best thing ever. It's hard to wear so much black during the summer.
California Pollution: I love the changing leaves! When I used to walk every afternoon, I remember noticing how the trees that lose their leaves start to mimic the leaves they lose. Those branches look like the veins in the leaves, and it makes me appreciate life much more!
Jennifer Herbert: It would probably be all the delicious pumpkin recipes I can make and my friends won't make fun of me (like when I make pumpkin chili in the middle of June) because it's totally acceptable to make pumpkin everything in the fall...just not in the summer (lies!)
Ann Remo: I love how cool it gets in the morning and evening. I also love how the beaches are deserted, so me and my husband can enjoy the coast without the summer crowds.
Laura Brown: My favorite thing about fall is that my husband stops being confused as to why I need to be covered in multiple blankets all the time I’m always cold but at least in fall and winter he is too
Sincere Mommy: I just love all of the rainy gloomy days that force me to stay indoors (give me an excuse to stay indoors) and work on my blog and clean my house.
